My first baby, Blooma, turns 15 in less than two months. That means 15 years ago, I was deep in my creative juices and building out what would be the first Blooma location, 44th and France. I was full of excitement, and naive as f*ck. I had NO clue how to run a business, but I did know a thing or two about birth and prenatal yoga. I put all that I had into the birth of Blooma. I gave her every single inch of me… including my soul. And I never ever gave up on my vision of serving ALL families! My staff and managers saw my vision and supported me and challenged me in ways I could never believe. Let’s just say I have never felt like a single mother. I have always had strong people by my side.

Many of you understand what I mean when I refer to the teenage years. And many of you will one day understand it too. It is a different kind of parenting. It brings you to your knees and forces a different form of showing up…. not at all the same you used on your 8 year old, 2 year old or 2 day old. For many families, it is all hands on deck!
So I asked the universe for a second or third pair of parents/hands to help bring Blooma to the next level. I prayed, I visualized and I manifested like I have never done before. I tested a few options, and learned they weren’t the right fit. I took a deep inventory as to what my baby girl’s needs were and what would be the best support to get her through teenage “hormones” and into her 20s. I believe, no, I KNOW, that I have been blessed with new co-parents to support my sweet Blooma into the future!
Blooma family, it is with great joy that I introduce Katie Vance Luse and Meghan Foley, my new co-parents!
Katie fell in love with Blooma during her first pregnancy. She is now the mother of two boys, ages 3 and 11 months. In her journey, she saw the importance of support and community throughout these major life moments, particularly through her time at Blooma. Katie is incredibly passionate about the education and empowerment of individuals and families. Katie’s goal in working with the Blooma team is to provide pregnancy, birth and early parenthood resources to as many people as possible.
Meghan has been with Blooma for seven years, starting as the Studio Manager and then working her way to Director of Operations. She has learned every part of the business and is dedicated to Blooma’s growth and potential. You can find her teaching her beloved weekly yoga flow classes, leading Wild Rice retreats with me, and often at the front desk!
Nothing but good is coming from this. As many of you know, mixed families can create so much more support for the children. And this pairing has brought about more support than I personably ever could have anticipated. I feel blessed that Metta has two moms and two dads. WE all parent together in a way that supports Metta. Best of all, it gives us parents more support, sanity, levity, and ways to look at situations from a fresh perspective. In the same way, Blooma will be gaining more guidance, support and love from this partnership.
You will continue to see me around Blooma, and the growing Blooma family will allow me to dive into my passions around doula training, teaching yoga and being in the community even more.
This community means the world to me and Blooma wouldn’t be ready for this next phase without all of you. Thank you for all you do for Blooma and for this, I am grateful to be continuing this adventure with you all!
