Our postpartum doulas work from evidence-based care methods and provide non-judgmental support during the postpartum period.

Through our work, we aim to facilitate a positive experience in transition to life with your new baby. We support our clients at every turn with unbiased, evidence-based information.

And unlike many other doula care providers, our doulas are specifically assigned to you for the duration of your care plan, so you are never surprised with who you welcome into your intimate spaces.

Our postpartum doulas provide a variety of support during the first 12+ weeks postpartum, including newborn care education, infant feeding and lactation support, new-sibling integration, sleep support, meal preparation, light housework, and support with postpartum rest and recovery.

What People Are Saying

Consistency In Your Home

The truth is that many other doula care providers send you a rotating assignment of doulas from one day to the next. So you don’t know for sure who will be with you and your family each day.

At Blooma, you’ll have a primary doula specifically assigned to you for the duration of your care plan, so you aren’t surprised with who you welcome into your intimate space.* And you won’t have to explain things more than once.

*Exceptions are made for larger care packages (e.g. your primary doula cannot handle a large volume of shifts over a short time period), illness, unpredictable birth doula attendance conflicts, and other unpredictable issues.

Postpartum Doula Care FAQ

As postpartum doulas, we work from evidence based care methods and provide non judgmental support during the postpartum period, through assessing and meeting the needs of your family. Postpartum doulas provide a variety of support during the first 12 weeks postpartum, including newborn care education, infant feeding and lactation support, new-sibling integration, meal preparation, light housework, and support with postpartum rest and recovery. Through our work, we aim to facilitate a positive experience of your transition into life with a new baby, leaving you feeling empowered and supported.
Some HSA/FSA programs allow reimbursement for postpartum doula support. Check with your policy for coverage, and we can provide you with an itemized receipt.

We know that there is a lot of vulnerability in the fourth trimester and when you welcome people into your home, and we want you to develop a relationship with your support team. Because of this, you will work with one primary doula. Depending on the hours needed, another doula may be added to provide the full, comprehensive support you are looking for. Beyond your primary doula, we have a full team ready to jump in for support in case your doula is sick, has an unexpected schedule change, or you find yourself wanting additional days of support.

No! A general idea of the support you anticipate will help us with scheduling, but we also know that the fourth trimester is a unique and ever-changing time. We encourage you to book the hours you feel confident you’ll need, but we can also adjust schedules and add more hours as you move through your postpartum time.

As often as you feel you need support! We tend to see families looking for more support immediately postpartum, tapering support as time goes on. An example of a typical daytime schedule is: three to four 4-hour shifts per week for the first 4 weeks, two to three 4-hour shifts per week for the next 4 weeks, and then continued shifts as needed for your fourth trimester and beyond.

In the Minneapolis and Saint Paul metro area, you will find a wide range of postpartum doula fees depending upon experience, trainings, etc. $35-65/hour is typical within the area. At Blooma, daytime support can be purchased for $50/hour and overnight support can be purchased for $58/hour.

Postpartum doulas do not do deep cleaning, give medical advice, or provide babysitting services.

Postpartum doulas typically support families during the first 12 weeks postpartum; a time often known as the “fourth trimester.” We also know that postpartum journeys can be very unique, so we are flexible in our timing.
