Spread across an intensive 2-3 day program, we cater to a variety of learning styles, blending evidence-based research, real-life anecdotes, and immersive hands-on experiences.
Discover deep insight into the myriad benefits of labor support. Master the art of prenatal and postpartum client care, from the first touchpoint to continued support. Learn to navigate challenges, from natural labor intricacies to Cesarean and VBAC procedures.
Our program emphasizes effective communication, understanding diverse cultures, and collaboration with care providers. Additionally, grasp the nuances of newborn care, breastfeeding support, and the hormonal dance of childbirth.
Beyond the core, we guide you in professional networking, explore certification options, and empower you to kickstart your doula journey, whether it begins as a heartfelt volunteer or blooms into a thriving private practice.
Empower, support, and illuminate with Blooma.
If you go on to certify as a Birth Doula through DONA International, you will want to observe a Childbirth Education/Preparation Course. Blooma’s Birth Class & Breastfeeding Class are wonderful options to fulfill these requirements. You’ll want to observe any course you take as a “Doula student” not as an expectant parent. Contact childbirtheducation@blooma.com to register for a reduced fee once you’ve registered for your doula training.
The Doula training fee is $695. Blooma’s DONA International Birth Doula Workshop is an intensive training workshop, over a 2 to 3 day time period. Style is diversified for multiple learning styles and levels; format delivers a balance of current research, anecdotal experience, reflective listening exercises & discussion, role playing, and hands-on practice. At the completion of the training, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for your DONA International Birth Doula Training. If you decide to continue on to earn the credentials of “Certified Doula” through a professional organization, this is your first step in the process. Participation in this training includes ongoing email/phone support from your trainer as desired, networking with the Blooma Community, and opportunities for continuing education.
Yes. Blooma’s mission has always been and remains the empowerment of all people; in 2007, we started our work in the Twin Cities to support and uplift all types of families and all types of birth choices. We acknowledge the beautiful linguistic, racial & cultural diversity in the Twin Cities; we also acknowledge the gaps in accessibility to healthcare & wellness services that lead to health disparities that primarily affect women of color.
We’re deeply committed to the work of closing the care gaps in maternal health. If you are interested in applying for financial assistance please fill out an application.
Completion of the training does not guarantee a job, however, we are often hiring at Blooma and looking for passionate, experienced, dedicated individuals. At the completion of your training, certification and a minimum of 12 births attended, if you are interested in working at Blooma, you can email meghan@blooma.com for more information.
