How This Works

This 85-Hour Training is open to aspiring or experienced yoga teachers, doulas, midwives, OBs, labor and delivery nurses, and students who want to learn more.

Taking place over the course of two full weekends, with lots of time to practice, teach and observe classes between the training weekends, you will leave our training prepared to lead a knowledgeable and safe prenatal practice.

Blooma is a registered Prenatal Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. Teachers with a current RYT200 designation with Yoga Alliance may register as a RPYT upon completion of the training and required coursework.

The training fee is $1,450 and includes both weekend modules.

Schedule

To complete the training, you must complete both modules one and two.
Weekend One

Blooma’s Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training draws from a rich history of birthing wisdom, and will take you on a journey as you explore your own beliefs and experiences around birth.

Our training provides an abundance of information about labor, birth, and why yoga is beneficial for this specific stage of life. We explore a yoga sequence that is tailored to all trimesters and encourages empowerment and strength that is necessary for pregnancy and birth. During Blooma’s training, you will learn far more than how to teach modifications for pregnancy. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of anatomy during and after pregnancy, and will be introduced to wellness and childbirth education philosophies that can support your students.

You will also examine the emotional and physical challenges during labor and childbirth, and how as a prenatal yoga instructor, you can help prepare your students for that experience. The weekend is full of connection, movement, guest speakers and fun! You not only discover how to be an advocate for yoga and birth, but what birth really means to you in this day and age.

  • Read and write a review of Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin (Due two months after training)
Weekend Two

During our second weekend together, we will dive deeper into prenatal yoga, the postpartum period, and your development as a teacher. We will look at the connections of pain and fear, and how they affect birth. You will learn how to hold space and ask the “right” questions to explore what many expecting students hold deep in their hearts and bring into their labors.

Guest speakers from our birth community will share their knowledge about the fourth trimester; you will gain insight about the mind/body connection of the postnatal student, and discover what poses, rest, nutrition, and support are needed after birth. You will create your own sequence, spend time practicing teaching, and will be introduced to a sequence safe for new parents attending with their babies to encourage bonding. Our training is led with the intention that every student will identify their strengths, develop confidence, and find their own voice to use when teaching yoga to prenatal and postpartum mamas.

Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training FAQ

Yes. Blooma’s mission has always been and remains the empowerment of all people; in 2007, we started our work in the Twin Cities to support and uplift all types of families and all types of birth choices. We acknowledge the beautiful diversity in the Twin Cities; we also acknowledge the gaps in accessibility to healthcare & wellness services that lead to health disparities that affect people of color.

We’re deeply committed to the work of closing those gaps. In order to expand accessibility to prenatal yoga, scholarships are available for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, military and veterans and people needing financial assistance. This is an opportunity for anyone who has a passion and a plan to bring prenatal yoga to their communities.

If you are interested in applying for financial assistance please fill out our application here.

Canceling your reservation 8 or more days in advance results in a 100% refund, minus a $50 administration fee. Canceling 0-7 days in advance results in no refund, although you may transfer your registration to a future offering, if available. If you are already a 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, then you may apply to be a RPYT once you have completed Blooma’s training, completed your coursework and received your certificate of completion.
